For tropical themed kitchens you can choose from a wide selection of bar stools that will compliment your look. First you can go with a plain bamboo or rattan if your kitchen is very informal. If you are going for more of a fun look, you can try metal bar stools that have a palm tree or other tropical style cutout or similar stools that are painted on the backs with tropical designs.

New plastic resin stools are great for use on the patio, deck or at the poolside, as they are simple and easy to clean with a hose or damp cloth. Some of the resins used in plastic bar stools made for outside use are so resistant to the sun`s hot UV rays and weather that they remain looking almost new year after year. Many of these out door stools fold up for easy storage during cold weather saving room in your garage or storage shed.

Most stools are designed to go under or near a bar. The height of the bar will determine the height of the bar stool. You ideally need enough room for a person to sit comfortably, legs crossed on the stool while under or near your breakfast bar.

There are many materials from which stools are built. At first, wood was used as the basic material. With time the designers started combinations between wood, which was used in 80 percent of the stool bar and 20 percent insertion of metal. In time, the elements of chrome have become more attractive and wood was replaced in many cases in 100 percent with metal.

Many wooden stools come cushioned as well, adding a bit of color and brightness to the beautiful finished wood. These cushioned stools look great in the family or game room or even in a dining room sitting. The materials used in cushioned stools can be anything from cheap plastic covering to real and faux leather, to cloth and even in some cases velvet. Of course the higher quality the cushion the higher the cost of the bar stool.

It`s easy to understand why padded stools are becoming so popular. If there is one thing that people like it is comfort and having the cushion that stools provides is a wonderful way to relax in comfort while eating, playing cards or other games or enjoying breakfast or that late night snack. Padded bar stools can be something as utilitarian as a chrome bar stool with a padded seat that you use while having breakfast at the kitchen island or in the breakfast nook at that old fashion soda shop table. These bar stools can be little more than a seat cushion on top of the stool to something with a cushioned back as well as seat.

Look at the length of the breakfast bar and from that work out how many stool will fit comfortably along it. Bear in mind that people will swivel on the stools and knees will knock if they are too close together. Most of our stools are quite wide and they all include a swivel feature.

One type of stool that is commonly used today is the home bar stool. This comes with a foot rest and is quite higher and narrower compared to other stools. And they are not just made for the home bar. The kitchen counter is also an ideal place to install these stools.
